It is a Seahawks themed Friday! I am very excited for the Seahawks to bring in a win at Super Bowl XLVIII! Our Super Bowl plans includes: friends, a nacho bar( with this recipe), and skittles. Go Hawks!

I found this recipe through a good friend, Liz, who knows the owner of a tasty little Italian restaurant in Redmond, Washington: Frankie's Pizza and Pasta. I purchased the book and Frankie even signed it. I literally have only made the Italian Wedding soup from the cookbook, but it is amazing. Thanks to Liz (and Frankie) for introducing me to this amazing soup!
I have never been a big champagne drinker. All those bubbles go straight to my head! Because of that, I haven't spent much time successfully popping a champagne cork. On NYE my friends knew of my champagne cork 3 0 before 30 goal and suggested I try opening the gigantic Prosecco bottle featured below. Unfortunately, I had to recruit a friend to help and ended up with sweaty pits and angry feelings. This past weekend I had my second chance to pop a champagne cork and it was way easier than attempt #1! I can now be a go-to for all cork popping adventures. Cheers!
My weekends are pretty uneventful during the winter months. This weekend I wasn't feeling great so I did a lot of laying around and reading. I read the entire book of Gone Girl (super disturbing) and snuggled with Zoe. Things I learned this weekend:
I am not throwing back very far today, because I have yet to share pictures from our 2013 Holiday trip to Seattle! RJ and I were blessed to have 2.5 weeks at home. Can't believe we are already nearing the end of January! Missing Seattle and all the people that make it home. Thank you to all our friends and family for filling up our love tanks! When you live in a cold-weather place, you are constantly challenged by negative temps and attitudes. To battle the winter blues, I am trying to incorporate summer into winter. Overall, these interventions are working for me. What helps you stay positive during these darker, cold days? Ideas/interventions not pictured below:
This soup is fantastic. Full of flavor (I recommend adding Cayenne Pepper) and next time I am making this vegetarian!
If you haven't caught on already, I have a decently sized list of things to accomplish before I am 30, which is in July! I have 6 months to do a lot of new things! Last night I did Yoga for the first time at my gym and I am still processing the experience. I can do tree pose, and pigeon (I love pigeon), but ask my to do a downward dog, and I look more like a drowning dog.
Yoga is challenging and relaxing in the same inhale and exhale. Overall, the experience was lovely and I plan to go again. Hey, I may even turn that downward dog into the most graceful thing you have ever seen. P.S. My yoga instructor is amazing. She also might be related to Gumby. |
