What's On My Shelf - July Reads
08.05.14
It's been awhile since I shared some book reviews, because I am struggling with my goal of reading 50 books this year! I haven't been reading much, but I have four books to share with you...read them! Hopefully I can pick up my reading pace for the second part of this year. Right now I am reading Daring Greatly (seriously good and reflective) and I just downloaded Maine onto my kindle through my online library (so far, I am enjoying it!)
This book, but more importantly Malala, is inspiring! I really enjoyed learning about Malala and I still follow her as she is advocates for education and for girls' rights. Read this - you won't be disappointed.

One autistic boy's understanding of the world and why he is the way he is. There are mixed reviews about this book, but I thought it was a very powerful way to understand autism.

I first read a Liana Moriarty novel in wine club book club - What Alice Forgot. I really like Liane's storytelling and you instantly get sucked into the world of her character's. If you want an easy read with a few twists and turns, this is a great one to read. Also, it is set in Australia so I like to imagine the character's Aussie accents.

I grew up watching Julia Child's re-run cooking show. I can still hear her voice, "more wine, more butter!" I had no idea how interesting Julia Child's life was as the wife of a foreign service officer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to cook and likes to learn about interesting people.

what's on my shelf-february edition
I have gotten into a habit of adding a ton of books on hold at the physical library and the online e-book library. Then, they all come at once. Because I have the goal of reading 50 books this year, I have to be a reading machine. I use Goodreads, other bloggers, and friends for book recommendations. Who do you go to for advice on your next read, or do you just walk quietly through the library to select books by the cover?
Here are the current and future books either in my online library (love my iPad mini for reading) or in my ottoman bench:

2013 reading challenge
So close to reaching my goal! I plan on using my traveling time and vacation from work to dive into my last 4 books planned for 2013. Not sure I will get through them all, but I am a quick reader and our flights are long. I already started reading MWF seeking BFF and I am loving it!

Harry Potter
I just finished my Harry Potter journey. I started indulging in the wizarding world a year ago and then I took a year break before I read the last book.... because I just wasn't ready for the series to end.
I love everything about Harry Potter. If you haven't read the series before, you should wake up the playful, young adult inside of you and start reading.
Grab your wands and reading glasses!
