Happy December! Since we are headed to Seattle in mid-December, we opted for no tree and minimal decorations this year. At first I felt so sad about it. Moving away changes everything -- from where you eat, to traditions you typically enjoy. With each month and season you feel the impact of those changes. I am not saying all the changes make you feel sad. For example, we just had a wonderful time with our friends in North Carolina for Thanksgiving (post to follow). It just takes a positive outlook to make sure you are enjoying what really matters.
After seeing many posts about people getting their tree, I decided my outlook this holiday season won't be about the things I don't have or won't get to enjoy. Even without a tree, I can still listen to holiday music, admire Ann Arbor's lights, go home for the holidays, attend Christmas Eve service with our family at our home church, and so much more. I am so blessed! I plan to take this Holiday Season all in: to stay grounded in why I celebrate Christmas to begin with, Jesus, and to experience all the blessings and joy I get to experience this season.
Below are my current favorite holiday albums playing softly in my office.
